The Alexander Mosaic from the House of the Faun shows Alexander the Great, King of Macedon, fighting Darius, the King of Persia, probably at the Battle of Issos in 333 bc. Alexander, on the left, is on horseback, while Darius is in a chariot. This is the mosaic which Currax sees in the story familia Ampliātī. We have imagined Ampliatus living in the House of the Faun. The mosaic measures 2.7m x 5.12m and over one and a half million tiny tesserae were used.
