Professor Matthew Nicholls recently presented a fascinating webinar for us. There’s a link to it lower down the page. This inspired so much interest that we set up the Suburani BUILD IT challenge, open to both students and teachers. It was your chance to have a go at building your own 3D model.
There were four categories:
Professor Nicholls has very kindly judged all the submissions. Here are the winners in each category. Press the full-screen icon

Professor Matthew Nicholls has made a large digital model of ancient Rome. This work has found many uses, from a free online course about the ancient city to use in museum displays and the movie Gladiator II. In this talk he will introduce the model and then use it to discuss the architecture and built environment of the ancient city, including the Suburra. There will be an opportunity to explore part of the area for yourself.
